Last night a woman was killed in Clintonville after being struck by a train. Her car became stuck on the tracks around 6:30 in the evening.

Police have identified a woman who was killed last night when her car was struck by a train on tracks in Clintonville.

Jennifer Merriman, 30, was eastbound on E. Cooke Road near Indianola Avenue when her car got stuck on the tracks about 6:30 p.m., police said.

She died after her car was struck by a Norfolk Southern train, police said.

She was alone in the car, bound for storage units on the other side of the tracks, police said.

Sgt. Rich Weiner said an off-duty police officer had pulled Merriman out of the car after it became stuck, but she went back into the car. The officer didn’t know why she returned to the car, Weiner said.

In New York, a car chase ended when the car crashed into a school bus in Buffalo. The bus had children on board shortly after 1pm after the school had an early dismissal.

BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) A car crashed into a school bus at Louisiana and Perry Streets in Buffalo Wednesday afternoon, shortly after 1p.m. The bus was carrying children from the Harvey Austin School that had an early dismissal.

As a result of the crash, one child on board the bus was reportedly taken to Women and Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.

There is no word on the condition of the bus driver, however witnesses on the scene say he was taken away by ambulance.

The car that crashed into the bus at a high rate of speed was apparently being chased by Lackawanna Police.
